Salman Khan reveals the actress’ name who was the first choice for ‘Sultan’
Meanwhile, Bollywood star Salman Khan made the headlines after he revealed the name of the actress who was the first choice for Sultan. For the record, “Sultan” is a 2016 Indian sports drama film that follows the story of Sultan Ali Khan, a middle-aged wrestler who once had a successful career but is now struggling with personal and professional setbacks.
The plot revolves around Sultan’s journey of redemption as he returns to the wrestling ring to regain his lost glory and mend broken relationships, especially with his wife, Aarfa, who is also a wrestler.
Anushka Sharma ended up playing the role of Aarfa, a wrestler who plays a key role in Sultan’s life, and she delivered a fantastic performance. However, Salman Khan revealed that Mrunal Thakur was initially considered for the role. She even had a meeting about it at Salman’s Panvel farmhouse with the director, Ali Abbas Zafar.
The reason Mrunal didn’t get the role was mainly due to her physical appearance. The team felt she didn’t quite look the part of a wrestler at the time, especially because she had lost a lot of weight. They needed someone who could convincingly portray a strong, athletic wrestler. Despite Mrunal’s talent, she didn’t fit the physical profile they were seeking.
Anushka Sharma was eventually cast because she met these physical requirements and had great on-screen chemistry with Salman Khan.
Although Mrunal Thakur didn’t land the role in Sultan, her career has been impressive. She’s taken on challenging roles and proven herself as a versatile actress. Recently, she surprised fans with a special cameo as Divya in Kalki 2898 AD.
