Railways are the second fastest mode of transport. It is also the most dependable mode of transport. Indian Railways manages the fourth-largest railway network in the world. It is well-known for its quality service and low cost. Due to this benefit, millions of people use it to travel daily.
Indian Railways, a lifeline for millions of passengers daily, has long been a symbol of affordable and accessible transportation across the vast country. However, the recent experiences shared by passengers highlight a significant issue that demands immediate attention.
Hygiene in public transport is non-negotiable, especially in a country like India where trains are a primary mode of long-distance travel for a large population. The presence of pests in pantry cars is not just a matter of inconvenience, it is a significant health hazard. Cockroaches and rats can carry diseases and contaminate food, posing risks to the health of passengers.
