The Vande Bharat Express, also known as Train 18, is the nation’s latest leap forward in rail travel, representing a significant milestone in the country’s quest for modern, high-speed rail connectivity.
The semi-high-speed, intercity train was designed and built entirely in India by the Integral Coach Factory, which is located in Chennai. For the unversed, initially, the Vande Bharat Express was launched on the New Delhi-Varanasi route, but due to its success and popularity, additional routes have been introduced.
The train now operates on several routes across India, including New Delhi-Katra, Mumbai-Gandhinagar, Chennai to Bengaluru, Chennai to Vijayawada, Chennai to Coimbatore, with plans for further expansion to connect more cities.
With its speed, comfort, and modern amenities, it does offer a glimpse into the future of Indian Railways but on the contrary, the India’s premium train has been making the headlines for all the wrong reasons of late.
Recently, the passengers complained of food quality issues, with many travelers have reported a noticeable decline in food standards, citing issues from tasteless meals to unhygienic conditions.
Water leaks from roof of Vande Bharat Train
Meanwhile, the passengers faced another problem while traveling from Delhi to Varanasi on the Vande Bharat after the roof of the train started leaking and the pictures, video clips of the same went viral on social media.
One of the users posted, “Look at Vande Bharat, one of India’s top passenger trains. Water is dripping from the roof. The train number is 22416, on the Delhi-Varanasi route.”
Meanwhile, Northern Railways quickly responded to the widely circulated clip. “Slight water leakage was observed in coach because of temporary blockage of pipes! The same was attended and rectified by the staff on the train . The inconvenience caused is regretted.”
One of the users jokingly teased the Indian Railways. “Please don’t defame. RailMin is providing shower facility for passengers. It’s a good step 👍.”
