The dispute between former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and his wife Payal Nath has been ongoing for many years. Omar Abdullah announced their separation in 2011 and filed for divorce in 2012. In his petition, Omar accused Payal of cruelty; however, the Delhi High Court dismissed his divorce petition in 2016, deeming his allegations unfounded.
Recently, a video clip of Payal was seen on social media in which she says that Omar is not helpful to me and our children. The court had decided to give interim alimony to Payal Abdullah. After the court order, former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was ordered to give Rs 1.5 lakh to his divorced wife Payal Abdullah. Also, Omar Abdullah will have to pay Rs 60,000 each for the education of both sons Zameer and Zaheer.
In the viral video, Payal stated that Omar does not help them in any way. She mentioned that he hasn’t provided even a single rupee as per the court’s decision. Payal expressed her desire for Omar Abdullah to take responsibility for his children, consider their education, and offer some support. She emphasized that currently, he doesn’t support them at all and has completely distanced himself from the three of them.
Omar Abdullah, a National Conference leader, and his wife Payal Nath have an intriguing love story. Both were employed at the Oberoi Hotel Group before Omar ventured into politics. Their paths crossed in Delhi, where they instantly fell in love. They got married on September 1, 1994.
Omar’s foray into Kashmiri politics during the 1996 assembly elections marked a turning point. His debut in the Lok Sabha elections in 1998, where he became the youngest MP, saw Payal accompanying him at every public event. Her presence alongside Omar during the campaign garnered attention, making her a well-known figure in Kashmir.
Payal settled in Delhi with both the children. After becoming the CM, Omar got busy in Kashmir politics. Omar, who used to come to Delhi every week to meet his family, got busy in politics. The relationship of Omar Abdullah and Payal, which lasted for about 17 years, ended in 2011. Omar Abdullah himself informed about his divorce on social media. After 2016, the children also started living with Payal in Delhi.
