There has always been a fierce rivalry between Gautam Gambhir and Shahid Afridi. Earlier, it was on the field but now the drama has started on social media platforms too.
Former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi criticised Gautam Gambhir for his attitude while also adding that he has no personality at all.
In Shahid Afridi’s autobiography, Afridi pointed at Gambhir for his nationalistic tweets where he claimed that Gautam Gambhir doesn’t hold many important records.
“(Gautam Gambhir) and his attitude problem. He, who has no personality. He, who is barely a character in the great scheme of cricket. He has no great records, just a lot of attitude. He behaves like he’s a cross between Don Bradman and James Bond,” Shahid Afridi penned down in his autobiography.
After Gambhir learnt that Shahid Afridi mentioned him in his autobiography, Gambhir got angry and gave him an epic reply on Twitter.
“Someone who doesn’t remember his age how will he remember my records! OK @SAfridiOfficial let me remind u one: 2007 T20 WC final, Ind Vs Pak Gambhir 75 off 54 balls Vs Afridi 0 off 1 ball. Most imp: We won the Cup. And yes, I’ve attitude towards liars, traitors & opportunists,” Gambhir tweeted.
Gautam Gambhir was last seen during the recently-concluded Indian Premier League 2024 season wherein he helped Kolkata Knight Riders win the third IPL title as a mentor.
KKR got the better of SRH in the final to win the prestigious trophy. Recently, reports were rife that Gambhir would become the next head coach of the Indian cricket team.
Rahul Dravid’s tenure as India’s head coach comes to an end post the T20 World Cup 2024. Even the legend himself confirmed that he would no longer continue as head coach after his contract ends.
“Look, I would love to coach the Indian team. There is no bigger honour. There is no bigger honour than coaching your national team. You are representing 140 crore Indians. And more across the globe as well. And when you represent India, how can it get bigger than that?” Gautam Gambhir said during an interaction with children at an event in Abu Dhabi on Sunday.
