A peculiar case has emerged from Bhopal where a couple has initiated divorce proceedings after just 8 months of marriage. The cause behind this decision stems from the wife’s desire to honeymoon abroad with her husband. However, instead of travelling abroad, her husband went to Ayodhya and Varanasi with his wife and parents, despite their elder age. Currently, the couple is undergoing counselling sessions to address their differences.
After just eight months of marriage, a woman from Bhopal sought a divorce. The discord arose when she expressed her desire to honeymoon abroad, which clashed with her husband’s commitment to caring for his elderly parents. Although they initially planned a trip to Goa, the husband took his wife to Varanasi and Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh with her family. Despite accompanying him on the trip, after coming back they had a lot of fights.
The wife has applied for divorce in the family court after 8 months of marriage and has also accused her husband of cheating. The wife alleged that the husband later told her that they were going to Ayodhya and Varanasi because the mother had to visit the temple. Family court marriage counsellor Shail Awasthi told news agency PTI that the divorce application is pending at the counselling stage and efforts are on for an amicable solution between the woman and her husband.
He recounted that the couple got married in May 2023. Despite the husband’s concerns, the wife, buoyed by her robust earnings, insisted on a abroad honeymoon. While the husband, an IT professional, cited familial responsibilities and proposed destinations like Goa or elsewhere in South India, he ultimately booked tickets to Ayodhya and Varanasi without his wife’s knowledge. He disclosed the plans merely a day before leaving, citing familial obligations.
