Indian cricketer Axar Patel made the headlines after he removed the cryptic post after veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin replaced him in the upcoming edition of the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023. The mega event is going to be held entirely in India for the first time in history.
Team India will kick-start their World Cup venture on October 8, Sunday as they will play against Australia at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. India last won the ICC ODI World Cup back in 2011 under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Since then India failed to win the third ODI World Cup. However, they do have a well-balanced squad that has all the tools and ingredients to compete for the third title. It remains to be seen how Rohit Sharma and Co will approach the tournament.

Axar Patel was initially drafted into Team India’s 15-man provisional World Cup squad. Nevertheless, he sustained a left quadriceps strain injury during the Asia Cup 2023 game against Bangladesh.
As a result, his injury kept him out of the Asia Cup final, which saw Washington Sundar taking his position. Besides that, he missed the subsequent ODI series against Australia, where Ravichandran Ashwin made a comeback and secured his spot in the World Cup squad.
