With social media dominating the world, people get to express their own opinions. But at times, netizens come up with comments which are deemed contrary to the spirit of human values.
We have come across people shaming or trolling every second person for their posts on social media. Be it right or wrong reason, some people still find a reason to troll them. From body shaming to talking about their skin colour, it has been a never-ending story.
Several female Bollywood celebrities have been on the receiving end of body-shaming trolls. However, there are some celebrities who hit out at the body shamers by coming up with bold statements.
Sonakshi Sinha often gave fitting replies to body shamers. When asked about the problem of body shaming in the media, she replied, “It’s absolutely shameful. Today if anybody has been targeted for being a certain way, it’s me.
But I don’t let it get to me. I know what is more important is that I project a healthy body image for girls who look up to me. Tomorrow if I become skinny, what’s the point? I won’t be able to work well.
I’ll fall sick all the time. I know that’s not my body structure, not my body type. I’ve worked very hard to look the way I look today. I used to weigh 95 kilos. What more do you want from me?”
Sonakshi made her debut along with Salman Khan in Dabangg and kickstarted her career in Bollywood thereafter. However, she too is trolled by users for getting film offers due to her father, Shatrughan Sinha’s influence.
Sonakshi has often taken it to her social media platforms, to defend her rights and oppose the allegations of nepotism. She urges people to focus on constructive criticism and even deleted her Twitter handle for the negative response she received from users.
Sonakshi Sinha had deactivated her Twitter account amid ongoing debate on nepotism. Sharing Amy Poehler’s GIF in an award show, the actress in her last tweet wrote, “The first step to protecting your sanity is to stay away from negativity. And nowhere more of that than Twitter these days. Chalo I’m off– deactivating my account. Bye guys, peace out.”
