There is a claim circulating on social media that actress Devoleena Bhattacharjee, who co-starred in the controversial film ‘The Kerala Story’ addressing issues like love jihad and conversion, has married a Muslim youth after doing the film. This claim is being spread through posts by several journalists and verified users.
Sanjit Kushwaha, a verified Twitter user, shared a picture showing Devoleena with her husband, Shahnawaz Sheikh, and wrote, “The name of the assistant actress of the film ‘The Kerala Story’ is Devoleena Bhattacharjee… That’s all I wanted to say.” Other verified users are also sharing this post along with the claim.
On social media, fact-checking videos that dispute this trending allegation are also making the rounds. These fact-check videos make it clear that this assertion is untrue. The four major female roles in the movie “The Kerala Story” are played by Ada Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani, and Siddhi Idnani. In this movie, Devoleena Bhattacharjee has no part to play. None of the roles in the movie “The Kerala Story” is played by an actress by the same name.
In reality, Devoleena Bhattacharjee is an Indian actress and a trained Bharatanatyam dancer. She gained popularity for her role as “Gopi” in the Star Plus show “Saath Nibhana Saathiya.” She has no connection to the film ‘The Kerala Story.’
Devoleena Bhattacharjee also tweeted about “The Kerala Story” in a different tweet that we stumbled across. Devoleena did not feature in the movie, and she made clarified on Twitter that her husband is a Muslim, and he watched ‘The Kerala Story’ with her and enjoyed it. It doesn’t usually happen like that; she says in her tweet in reply to a user. A Muslim spouse of mine joined me in watching the movie. He was grateful. He didn’t view it as offensive or contrary to his beliefs. I think every Indian should be like that.
This fact-check makes it clear that Devoleena Bhattacharjee did not play any role in the film ‘The Kerala Story,’ so the claim spread by social media users is false.
