Delhi Metro replies to the incident of Girl wearing Bold Outfit in Train

We currently live in a country that intends to go up and above in every walk of life, but many “Cultures” or “Traditions” are halting the progress. It might as well seem incredibly difficult to bring about an end to these customs which are of no use to the country, but it’s definitely not impossible.

We can’t expect to change things overnight, we have to do it brick by brick and results can be expected only in the long run. These days, there have been several women who came under fire for their weird or inappropriate dressing style.

Recently, a Delhi metro girl by the name of Rhythm Chanana was immensely criticized by the netizens for her dressing style. Meanwhile, she finally revealed the reason why she is wearing the bold outfit in public.

She told India Today, “It’s my freedom in what I want to wear. I am not doing this for a publicity stunt or to become famous. I don’t care what people have to say. I am not inspired by Uorfi Javed. I didn’t even know who she was until recently a friend showed me her photo. However, I look up to her after knowing her story.”

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation also issued a statement about the matter after videos of Chanana’s attire went viral. When asked about it, Chanana cited that Delhi Metro has a no-videography policy inside the trains.

She said, “It’s weird that DMRC has now forgotten their own rule of no videography inside the metro. If they have a problem with my attire, they should also have a problem with those who shot it”

Meanwhile, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) responded by urging passengers to maintain appropriate social etiquette while using the public transport system. In a statement issued by the DMRC said, “The DMRC expects its commuters to follow all social etiquette and protocols which are acceptable in the society. The statement added, Commuters should not indulge in any activity or wear any attire which could offend the sensibilities of other fellow passengers.”

The Operations and Maintenance Act of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) mentioned that “indecency is a serious crime under section 59.” DMRC went on to add, “We appeal to all our passengers to kindly maintain decorum while traveling in a public transport system like the Metro. However, issues such as the choice of clothing while traveling is a personal issue and passengers are expected to self-regulate their conduct in a responsible manner.”
