Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu is a popular Indian model, actress, and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Universe 2021. Notably, she had been previously crowned Miss Diva Universe 2021.
Moreover, she is the third entrant from India to win Miss Universe. The Chandigarh-based model defeated 80 contestants to become Miss Universe 2021. In fact, she has already won several beauty contests like Miss Diva 2021, and Femina Miss India Punjab 2019.
Notably, she was also among the top 12 in Femina Miss India 2019. Sandhu brought back the crown to India over 2 decades after Lara Dutta clinched the pageant in 2000. She was asked what advice she would give to young women on how to tackle the pressure they face today.
She said: “Well, I think the biggest pressure the youth of today is facing is to believe in themselves. To know that you are unique and that’s what makes you beautiful, stop comparing yourselves with others, and let’s talk about more important things that’s happening worldwide.
“I think this is what you need to understand. Come out, speak for yourself, because you are the leader of your life. You are the voice of your own life. I believe in myself and that’s why I’m standing here today. Thank you,” said Sandhu.
Meanwhile, she was on the receiving end of body-shaming trolls. The beauty queen seems to have gained some weight in her recent pics and appearances. In fact, some fans started trolling her on social media for the same.
However, Harnaaz doesn’t pay attention to such remarks. “I’m one of those individuals who was first bullied that ‘she’s too skinny’ and now they bully me saying ‘she’s fat’. Nobody knows about my celiac disease. That I can’t eat wheat flour and many other things,” she said while speaking to news agency PTI.
She further added, “When you go to a village, you see changes in your body. And I went to New York for the very first time… It is a whole other world altogether.”
