In a first, 42-year-old woman and her 24-year-old son passed the Public Service Commission (PSC) exam together, as reported by news agency ANI. Hailing from Kerala’s Malappuram, mother-son duo scripted history as they cracked the public service commission exam together.
The son revealed the secret of success. He said that he and his mother went together to coaching classes. His mother brought him to this and his father had arranged all the required facilities for them.
“We went together to coaching classes. My mother brought me to this and my father arranged all facilities for us. We got a lot of motivation from our teachers. We both studied together but never thought that we will qualify together. We’re both very happy,” Vivek, the son, said.
For the unversed, when Vivek was in class 10, her mother Bindu started reading books in order to motivate him. However, at the same time, it also inspired her to get prepared for the Kerala PSC exams.
In 9 years, she and her son took up a government job together. Bindu had passed the Lower Divisional Clerk (LDC) exam as she secured a good rank of 38.
On the other hand, her son passed the Last Grade Servants (LGS) test as he got a rank of 92. After 3 attempts, two for the LGS exam and one for the LDC, Bindu became successful in her fourth attempt.
She spent the last decade teaching in an Anganwadi centre. She told her friends, her son and the instructors at her coaching centre were a huge source of inspiration and support during the journey.
