Swara Bhasker is a popular Indian actress who works primarily in Bollywood films. She is best known for her supporting work in mainstream productions and featuring roles in independent films, she has won 2 Screen Awards and has been nominated for a Filmfare Award on three occasions.
An alumnus of JNU, Swara has come a long way from being a journalist to an actor. Although she hasn’t received any major role, her acting in supporting roles has fetched her recognition in Bollywood.
Recently, the 34-year-old actress was targeted by a Twitter troll and the actress decided to give an epic reply to the troll. She was trolled after she shared a selfie of herself in a saree at a park. The caption of the post reads, “A sari, a park, a walk, a book.. ‘at peace’ must feel like this 💛✨ #smalljoys #gratitude #feelingwise :)”
The troll compared her physical appearance to a “maid” and then commented on her latest selfie by adding that a “maid looks better than you in a saree”.
Swara came up with a befitting reply to the troll by replying, “I’m sure your household help is beautiful. I hope you respect her labour and her dignity & don’t act like a creep with her.” She made her movie debut with a supporting role in the 2009 drama Madholal Keep Walking, in which turned out to be a commercial failure.
She carved out a niche for herself for her supporting role in the commercially 2011 successful romantic comedy Tanu Weds Manu. Her performance drew plaudits. She also received a Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress nomination.
