Religion conveys the principles of ‘faith’ and sometimes, the faith may change based on the circumstances. We’ve seen quite a lot of people renouncing their religious teachings only to convert to some other religions, a change that has been happening since the olden days.
Only you can change what you believe in and others shouldn’t inspire you to do so. In fact, people from all over the world have discovered and adopted faith in something other than their own religions over the years. They always make headlines and receive a huge appreciation for inculcating respect and modern values towards different religions.
However, forcing others to religious conversion is not at all acceptable by any means. We have also come across some shocking incidents when someone refuses to convert to Islam. Now, let’s learn about another incident that took place in Madhya Pradesh recently.
In the latest development, a Hindu woman by the name of Purnima Dhani has lodged a complaint against Farooq Khan for giving her instant talaq (a form of divorce under Islamic law) over her refusal to convert to Islam. For the unversed, she eloped and married a Muslim man eight years ago against her family’s wishes and now she regrets it.
Meanwhile, the Madhya Pradesh police booked the man under the anti-triple talaq law and anti-forced conversion law, along with anti-Scheduled Castes (SC) atrocity law as the Hindu woman belongs to Khatik jaati, which comes under SC castes.
The accused has been detained by the police while his parents, also named in the FIR, are allegedly on the run.
She went on to have two children (both daughters) with Farooq, now aged 3 and 5. Before marriage, Farooq had even assured her that religion would not come across their relationship. He also told Purnima she would never have to convert to Islam and abide by the Islamic ways. Needless to say, things changed drastically after marriage.
Farooq’s mother Shaheedan also forced her to give up her Hindu faith and follow Islam. Shaheedan also told her that Purnima automatically become a Muslim by marrying Farooq. She further added that Purnima must follow the Islamic ways.
Upon resisting, Shaheedan made her life bad by frequently taunting her for not bringing ‘any dowry’. Meanwhile, Shaheedan also started brainwashing her son to distance himself from Purnima, adding his wife is of suspicious character.
The shocking part was that Farooq’s father Peer Ali also supported his wife in harassing his daughter-in-law. Another shocking part was that her in-law’s family constantly harassed her on days considered holy among Hindus. During Navratri, they would bring meat to the house and also force Purnima to cook and eat it. Shockingly, this has happened at every Hindu festival.
