From playing a hopeless romantic that everyone hopes to bring out a character that everyone despises, Shahid Kapoor has always been a fan favourite. The actor has won over 7 awards and millions of hearts in the country.
We just can’t imagine what some of his movies would be like without him. But have you ever wondered how these movies given below would have turned out if Shahid hadn’t turned them down?
Let’s take a look at the list of 5 super-hit movies turned down by Shahid Kapoor
1. Rang De Basanti :
One of the top-earning films of the year 2006, Shahid Kapoor was offered to play the role of Siddharth. Shahid, however, could not take up the role due to insufficient time and regrets it.
“I regret not doing the film. They wanted me to play the role of Siddharth. I’d cried while reading the script and loved it, but unfortunately couldn’t make time for it.”
2. Rockstar:
Shahid, who then was presented with a choice to either perform in Jab we Met or Rockstar, chose the former. He technically didn’t reject the role for this movie, but many are glad he made that decision. Rockstar went on to become one of the top-grossing films of 2011.
3. Shuddh Desi Romance:
There is no clear reason as to why Shahid Kapoor rejected the role of Raghu in Maneesh Sharma’s Shuddh Desi Romance as he was then well known for playing rom coms. In its first week, the film made about 15.19 core rupees.
4. Bang Bang:
Siddhart Anand, who was the director of this Bollywood remake of the Hollywood film Knight and Day, had first offered the role to Shahid Kapoor. Bang Bang debuted at number six and later peaked to number three on the US Billboard Hot 100.
5. Raanjhanaa:
The role of Kundan Shankar, played by Dhanush who made his debut with the film was originally offered to Shahid Kapoor. This movie was a commercial hit despite being controversial along with audiences.
