The word “copied” implies that we were duped or cheated. But perhaps if we look at it from a different angle, it will appear better. Directors drew influence from particular films, which proved to be popular favourites. The majority of the names are unknown, and most people are ignorant of them.
The list below contains the name of fan-favourites that were inspired from other films:
Munna Bhai M.B.B.S and Patch Adams
Munna Bhai M. B. B. S was duplicated as well. Patch Adams by Robbin William served as inspiration for this picture.
Zinda and Oldboy
In the year 2006 Sanjay Dutt’s Zinda was released. The story and the dialogues were copied from the film identified as “Oldboy”
Qayamat and The Rock
Qayamat was released in 2003 which was directed by Harry Baweja but this film was also copied from the film named ‘The Rock’ which was released in 1996.
Taxi No. 9211 and Changing Lanes
Taxi No. 9211 was copied from Ben Affleck and Samuel Jackson’s Changing Lanes. Changing Lane was released in the year 2002 and the Taxi No. 9211 came out in the year 2006.
Shaurya and A Few Good Men
Shaurya was launched in the year 2008 and it was inspired by the film named “A Few Good Men”. This film starred Tom Cruise and Jack Nicholson.
Partner and Hitch
Hitch was released in 2005 and after that in 2007 Partner got released which was inspired by the Hollywood film.
Judwaa and Twin Dragon
This film was a remake of an action film in Hong Kong named “Twin Dragon”.
Salaam-e-Ishq and Love, Actually
The plot of Salaam-e-Ishq was inspired by the Hollywood film ‘Love Actually,’ which took two years to film. The movie wasn’t as excellent as Love, Actually, but it has its moments.
Dostana and Now I pronounce you Chuck and Larry
Dostana is a rip-off of Now I Pronounce You Chuck & Larry. The original film was far less formulaic and cringe-worthy to watch. Dostana’s dialogue was presented considerably more effective than in the first film. But it didn’t even come close to the original film’s level of hilarity.
Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar and Breaking Away
The film ‘Jo Jeeta Wahi Sikander’ is not a remake, although it is inspired by the Hollywood film ‘Breaking Away.’ The plot is comparable to the bicycle race and competition, as well as the idea of a meaningless existence after college. Both films have their fan bases, or perhaps they share one.
A Common Man and A Wednesday
Well for a change, Bollywood’s film was copied and not vice versa. Though it is a pretty rare situation. But, now you know how good the plot must be since it got copied by Hollywood!
A Common Man is a 2013 Sri Lankan thriller film directed by Sri Lankan filmmaker Chandran Rutnam, starring Ben Kingsley and Ben Cross. The film is an official remake of the Indian film, A Wednesday!
Sangam and Pearl Habor
Both films are rather nice and are dramas. Everything from the cinematography to the music to the conversation was flawless. Sangam had only one friend as a pilot, whilst its Hollywood counterpart had both. The plots of both films are fairly identical, with the sole variation being that Sangam’s main character had two friends.
Hachi: A Dog’s Tale and Hachiko Monogatari
The 2009 American drama film Hachi: A Dog’s Tale is an adaptation of the 1987 Japanese film Hachiko Monogatari. The original film was based on the true story of an Akita dog that lived in Japan during the 1920s. It’s essentially a dog that dies while waiting for its owner.
Kimba the White Lion and The Lion King
Japanese animators have been pleading with Disney to give them credit for a Lion King remake. Since 1989, they’ve been attempting to earn their credits for the film, which bears a striking resemblance to the Japanese film Kimba. From October 12, 1989, to October 11, 1990, the film was televised in Japan.
Paprika and Inception
The film Paprika inspired Christopher Nolan’s Inception. The entire plot revolves around a device that allows people to explore their dreams. Both movies make use of technology that allows the wearer to enter other people’s dreams. On Friday, the film ‘Inception’ was released in theatres.
