Hrithik Roshan is a Bollywood actor who has had a lot of acclaims. Despite becoming a celebrity kid, he demonstrated that he is here as a result of his hard work. With Kaho Na, the star made his Bollywood debut Kaho Na… Pyaar Hai has left an indelible mark on our minds.
After a string of flops, he eventually found success with Koi… Mil Gaya and Krrish. He didn’t look back and went on to star in several well-received films. As a charming robber in Dhoom 2, he made our hearts skip a beat, and in films like Agneepath, Guzarish and Jodha Akbar, he wowed us with the intensity of his acting.
There were, however, a few hit films that Hrithik turned down. Take a look:
Swades, 2004
Ashutosh Gowarikar’s film Lagaan was nominated for an Academy Award, and every actor decided to collaborate with him. Hrithik was approached for Swadesh, but the actor was preoccupied with his film schedule.
Hrithik Roshan was the director’s pick to play Mohan Bhargava but Shah Rukh Khan later took over the role. The film was an instant hit and became a cult classic.
Bunty Aur Babli, 2005
Hrithik was approached for Bunty Aur Babli before Dhoom 2. He didn’t think he was the best choice for the part and suggested Abhishek Bachchan instead. The film went on to be a huge commercial success.
Rang De Basanti, 2006
Rang De Basanti is regarded as one of Bollywood’s best films. Many well-known figures in the industry were approached to participate. Except for DJ, Hrithik was given one of the major positions.
He turned it down because he was filming Krrish at the time. Aamir Khan, Soha Ali Khan, Sharman Joshi, and others then became the cast members.
Dil Chahta Hai, 2001
The film directed by Farhan Akhtar is one of the most progressive films ever made in Bollywood. Aamir Khan was so taken with the script that he persuaded Saif Ali Khan to join the project. Hrithik Roshan, on the other hand, was offered the role of Sid. Later, Akshaye Khanna took over the role.
Main Hoon Na, 2004
In the script, Farah Khan wanted Hrithik to play Shah Rukh’s younger brother. Hrithik said he didn’t want to do repetitive roles, so he turned down the part. He suggested Zayed Khan for the role.
Pink Panther 2, 2009
After the tremendous success of Dhoom 2, the audience adored Hrithik and Aishwarya’s pairing. They also collaborated on the films Jodha Akbar and Guzaarish. Unfortunately, Hrithik couldn’t do Pink Panther 2 because he was working on other projects.
Shhuddhi
It is one of Dharma’s most awaited projects. More material about the film is yet to be released, but rumours about the cast is rampant. Hrithik and Kareena were approached for the film, but they declined. The film was later given to Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone.
Hindi Remake of I
Vikram’s film In Kollywood, I was a big hit. The makers of the Hindi remake expected Hrithik to play the lead role. According to reports, superstar Mahesh Babu will make his directorial debut with this film.
Fast and Furious
Rob Cohen, the producer of the Fast and Furious franchise, has said that he admires Hrithik. He also wanted him to join the franchise. Hrithik, on the other hand, decided to focus solely on Bollywood.
Hamlet Adaptation by Tigmanshu Dhulia
Onir and Vishal Bhardwaj have already completed a Hamlet adaptation. Haider, starring Shahid Kapoor, was a big hit, and the actor also received awards for his performance.
Hrithik declined the opportunity of another Hamlet project, and Tigmanshu later changed his mind and scrapped the proposal.
