On March 10, a Bengaluru women had alleged that Zomato delivery man attacked her inside her residence due to delay in bringing her order. The woman identified as Hitesha Chandranee, who is a content creator showed a bloody gash on her nose that she said was the result of the delivery man assaulting her.
She posted the video on social media and it went viral in no time. It caught the attention of Zomato and the food delivery application replied to her video clip adding that a “local representative shall be in touch with you shortly to help you with the police investigation…”
Majority of the netizens launched a scathing attack on the delivery man for his actions. However, after knowing the other side of the story, things did take a turn. It appears that Zomato delivery agent isn’t the culprit anymore. People are now starting to doubt the Bengaluru women for making a meal out of it.
Meanwhile, Parineeti Chopra was the first Bollywood actress to come out in support of the Zomato delivery boy. She has even requested Zomato India to “publically report the truth” because nobody knows what’s happened behind the scenes.
Chopra took to Twitter and chipped in with their opinion. “Zomato India – PLEASE find and publicly report the truth. If the gentleman is innocent (and I believe he is), PLEASE help us penalise the woman in question. This is inhuman, shameful and heartbreaking .. Please let me know how I can help. #ZomatoDeliveryGuy @zomatoin”.
Besides that, she also put up an Instagram Story to support the Zomato delivery man. She posted a pic of Zomato delivery boy and wrote “FIND THE TRUTHHH!! If this man has been framed for no reason, the woman who did this NEEDS to pay for his pain! F***.”
After the video clip of Instagram influencer went viral, the Zomato delivery agent by the name of Kamaraj was arrested on the charges of attacking woman on March 10. However, he was later granted conditional bail the next day.
