Religion conveys the principles of ‘faith’ and sometimes, the faith may change based on the circumstances. We’ve seen quite a lot of people renouncing their religious teachings only to convert to some other religions, a change that has been happening since the olden days. Only you can change what you believe in and others shouldn’t inspire you to do so.
On the other hand, several shocking incidents are happening in the country. Hindu girls are being forced to convert to Islam, which is happening time and again in our country. It’s been happening in Pakistan also.
Religious discrimination is a never-ending issue in Pakistan which has been continuing for a long time and there is no remedy till now. In a population of over 20 crores, approximately 3.4 million people belong to the Hindu community and the majority of which are Dalits or people of Scheduled Castes.
Minorities were never treated equally, an existing issue which Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan promised to sort out the woe but hasn’t really brought about any change so far. Even under his leadership, so many Hindus are still going through painful torture like the religious conversion (Hinduism to Islam) and forced marriages to elderly men.
Hindu Parents have lost their daughters to Muslim men after forced marriages and shockingly, they haven’t seen them since 8-9 years.
Recently, another minor Hindu girl has been kidnapped and forcibly converted and married off in Pakistan’s Sindh. A 13-year-old Hindu girl by the name of Kavita Bai was allegedly abducted by a man of Bahalkani tribe and after which, she ws forcibly converted to Islam by Barelvi cleric Mian Mithoo, and then got hitched to her abductor.
The video clip of the conversion ceremony went viral on the internet. The shocking incident happened in the Tangwani Taluka of Kashmore district in Sindh. As per the local media, the girl was abducted by five men from her home on March 8. Her father narrated the ordeal and according to him, as many as five armed men pulled his daughter from their residence to a vehicle and escaped from the spot.
Now, an FIR has been filed in the matter. Nonetheless, the teenager reportedly appeared before a court on Wednesday and added that she was over 13 years old.
Based on her statement, she was shifted from Kashmore to Ghotki as she had alleged that she has been married against her parents’ wishes. The girl also sought protection from the local court.
Despite her statement, the police lodged a case under the Sindh Child Marriage Restraint Act which makes a “marriage between an adult and a minor punishable” by upto three years of imprisonment. Meanwhile, a medical examination is expected to be ordered to find out her real age.
