When Indian captain Virat Kohli did his bit for society:
Everyone is well aware of the fact that Virat Kohli is an aggressive cricketer besides being a world-class batsman and as a captain. He has been criticised by many for his inappropriate language on the field. But one side alone doesn’t tell the whole story.
The Indian captain is sensitive towards society and has done many notable charitable works. Kohli had officially joined Smile Foundation and had done massive charity with their collaboration. He had started a charitable foundation named ‘Virat Kohli Foundation: VKF’ and has donated crores of rupees for various causes.
VKF had also conducted a fundraising Football match along with Abhishek Bachan’s Charitable Trust and raised millions for the needy people. He often spends his leisure time with orphanage and old age homes. This sums up the essential Virat Kohli for you.
In September 2017, he had pledged to help other sports by donating 2 crore rupees and within a short period of time, the federation received a cheque. As per Sportskeeda website, Virat Kohli reportedly allotted scholarship to 8-10 Indian athletes.
If sources are to be believed, he gives away a huge part of his earnings towards underprivileged kids and also avoids media coverage.
Talking about his secret visit to Old age home, Kohli got emotional and said, “It’s our responsibility to take care of elders, don’t send them to the orphanage. Send them to me. I’ll take care of them”.
Krunal Pandya gives Blank Cheque to cricketer who’s battling for life
Besides being rich, cricketers have a philanthropic attitude, which hardly many are aware of. We praise them for their personal achievements during the match. But they do contribute to the less-unfortunate people behind the scenes.
In a heartwarming gesture, Krunal Pandya who is the brother of Hardik Pandya stepped up to provide timely assistance to former India cricketer Jacob Martin who has been in a critical condition after he met with an accident on December 28. The victim was in desperate need of help as he could not meet the financial expenses of the medical treatment.
The 46-year-old Jacob Martin has been on a ventilator after ‘suffering lung and liver injuries’, after which Martin’s wife appealed to India’s governing body BCCI for help. Thankfully, the board acted promptly and sanctioned Rs 5 lakh for Martin’s treatment.
After that, Krunal Pandya has offered a blank cheque to the Martin family, requesting them to withdraw cash as much as they need to meet the expenses. The cricketer left the cheque with former Baroda Cricket Association secretary Sanjay Patel, who was one of the first to step forward in Martin’s assistance. The Association has sanctioned a sum of Rs 3 lakh.
Sourav Ganguly, who was skipper of the Indian cricket team when Martin made his debut, also made a bank transfer to support Martin.
It has been learnt that the approximate cost of Martin’s treatment is Rs 70,000 a day. Many cricketers including Irfan and Yusuf Pathan, Munaf Patel and Zaheer Khan have stepped forward to help Martin.
As per a report in The Telegraph, Krunal Pandya said to Patel that the family could write down any amount on the cheque as long as it is not less than Rs. 1 lakh.
People on Social media showered praise on Krunal Pandya and other cricketers who came forward in Jacob Martin’s aid.
Untold story of MS Dhoni- who did his part behind the scenes
Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s simplicity and honesty have never been in doubt. The down-to-earth personality is a huge inspiration to all cricket followers. Known for the knack of captaincy, wicketkeeping, batting traits, swift stumping, quick running between the wickets, last ball six, helicopter shots, ICC trophies and so on, his contribution towards Indian cricket is so good that it cannot be put it in words.
MS Dhoni is the only captain in the history of cricket to have won 3 ICC trophies – ICC World Cup 2007, ICC World Cup 2011 and ICC Champions Trophy 2013. Even after given up international captaincy on January 4, 2017, he still has extended his services as a wicketkeeper-batsman.
He has always worked behind the scenes to offer some crunch tips to Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the deciding phase of the game. Sometimes we just run short of adjectives to describe MSD in one word. He has done so much for India and is still extending his valuable contributions to the Indian cricket team.
The bat which MS Dhoni hit the winning shot for a six against Sri Lanka in the World Cup 2011 final was auctioned for a staggering price of Rs.72 lakhs. The aim was to raise funds for MS Dhoni’s wife Sakshi’s charitable organisation, ‘Sakshi Foundation’ that works for underprivileged children in India. The bat was purchased by RK Global, an investment group.
MS Dhoni has great admiration for the Indian Army. He is an honorary rank-holder for time being. He himself once told that he would serve the Indian army once he retires from cricket. He donated 20 lakh rupees for the Indian Army soldiers who were badly injured in the line of duty. MS Dhoni’s charitable foundation received as many as 20000 pounds out of the 300,000 raised during the inaugural T20 fundraiser named ‘Cricket for Heroes’ held at The KIA Oval.
In the match, MS Dhoni hit the winning runs for his side Heroes XI against Rest of the World XI. Out of the 300,000 pounds raised during this match, the Help for Heroes Foundation has donated 20000 pounds towards Dhoni’s Charitable Foundation. MS Dhoni has also donated his wicketkeeping gloves and pads in a bid to raise funds for a liver cancer patient in Kolkata. He has been doing many things behind the scenes and doesn’t want to show off in public. That’s his speciality.

Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag won our hearts after he announced that he can offer to take complete care of the education of the children of all the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel martyred in the deadliest terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district
