Ashok Shrivastav is a well-known journalist, television anchor, and writer from India. He has been engaged with DD news over the last eighteen years and established himself as Doordarshan’s most trusted prime time anchor in this country.
His compassionate and grounded nature while he raises concerns over complex issues in his popular program Do Took, every day at 9 pm, has received an enormous amount of love and respect from the audience. He has been in this profession for more than three decades now and has been promoted to Senior Consulting Editor recently.
Ashok was born and schooled in Delhi, after which he completed his graduation from Kirori Mal College of Delhi University. He became a keen writer, learned photography, and commenced his career in journalism. While working in print media at a length, he was associated with Navbharat Times, Jansatta, Panchajanya, Vama, and Sunday Mail.
He has also reported on the historic day of demolition of Babri Masjid from Ayodhya on 6 December 1992. He has also been awarded by the former prime minister as well as the leader of the opposition, Atal Bihari Vajpayee for his unbiased reporting of the difficult days during the militant occupation of Hazratbal in Kashmir in 1993.
In 1996, Ashok was enlisted in the team of India’s leading television journalist, Mrs. Nalini Singh, who successfully telecast the exit poll results of the first Lok Sabha elections in India. At this point, Ashok had already started to flourish as a television anchor in popular news program Aankhen Dekhi and Hello Zindagi. He worked as an executive producer at Surya Tv and Zenith Tv from 1999 to 2002.
Ashok ji joined DD news in June 2002 and has been anchoring since then. His contributions to Doordarshan made him the most loved and promising anchor. He was awarded by Dr.Bhupen Hazarika in 2005.
Ashok ji came in the limelight for the most controversial interview of his lifetime with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014. The interview was not only aired on DD News but also many news channels. In February 2019, Ashok Shrivastav’s first book,’Narendra Modi Censored’ was published.
