The installation of the idol shows his selfless act of helping migrant labourers return to their homes during the coronavirus lockdown.
A member of the pooja committee, Srinjay Dutt, said that they had tried to capture the struggle of the labourers to the best of their ability.
Dutt told ANI, “Our theme is on the struggle of migrant workers who were attempting to return to their homes during the coronavirus pandemic. During the locking phase, actor Sonu Sood played a big role, we have installed a big statue of him to motivate others to help those near them.”
During the nationwide lockdown, Sonu Sood helped migrant workers who got stuck in Maharashtra and also made travel arrangements for them.
