The popular game show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) has changed many lives. Many have attained new heights in their career after winning this famous show. One such inspiring story is that of IPS Dr. Ravi Mohan Saini.
Ravi Mohan Saini participated in Kaun Banega Crorepati Junior which was held in the year 2001. At that time, Ravi was 14-year-old and in 10th standard. Saini’s life took a drastic U-turn when he first appeared on Kaun Banega Crorepati in 2001. He not only won the prize money but also won many millions of hearts.
Yes, his knowledge earned him Rs 1 crore by answering all 15 questions correctly. Later, Ravi decided to prepare for the UPSC Civil Services exam. It is worth mentioning here that Saini (now 33 years old) took charge as the Superintendent of Police, Porbandar.
In a conversation with the Times of India in 2017, Ravi told that he had 1 crore in the show. He was given a cheque of Rs 69 lakh after tax deduction by KBC host Amitabh Bachchan. However, the prize money was given after the age of 18 years as per KBC rules.
He told The Indian Express, “After my schooling, I did my MBBS from Mahatma Gandhi Medical College in Jaipur. I was doing my internship after MBBS when I cleared UPSC. My father was in the navy and I joined the police force after being inspired by him.”
Saini qualified for the Indian Police Services in 2014, with an All-India rank of 461. Talking about his new role, he said, “My role would be the implementation of lockdown in Porbandar in view of the Covid-19 pandemic. Also, the law and order situation remains our topmost priority.”
Ravi became the first KBC winner who cracked the civil service examinations. He came through with flying colours as he secured All India Rank (AIR) 461 in the examination.
He has now become a source of inspiration for many youths who dream to be IAS or IPS. He has achieved what others dream of. Many people read his inspirational story and get motivated. Let’s praise him for a big achievement.
