Yet another story of a millionaire beggar has come to light from Rajasthan. A daily wage worker in Rajasthan has turned out to be rich. The daily wage worker, identified as Sanju Devi Meena, has as many as 64 bigha properties on her name on the Jaipur-Delhi Highway. Sanju Devi is the owner of 64 bigha properties worth over 100 crores in Rajasthan.
The startling fact came to light after the I-T department conducted an investigation. you will be perplexed to know that Sanju Devi does not have any idea about the lands she owns.
Meanwhile, all the properties have been attached by the benami prohibition unit (BPU) of the I-T department under the anti-benami transactions law.
The tax department had carried out the searches following a tip-off that many companies based in Delhi and Mumbai are purchasing the land on the name of tribals in the area.
This is not the first such case where a daily wage worker has turned out to be rich. Her income is estimated to be around 100 crore.
As per rules, only tribals can buy land in this area. During the investigation, tax officials found out that these lands were purchased in six villages on Jaipur-Delhi National Highway through different sale deeds and the payments were made on the name of Sanju Devi by Hazelnut Constructions Private Limited.
The I-T sleuths said that payments of total Rs 12.93 crore were made to the sellers in the name of Meena and around Rs 80 lakh was incurred on registry charges in Meena’s name.
On being enquired about the matter, Sanju Devi, mother of two and a widow, said that she does not know anything in this regard and she is running her family by working on fields and rearing cattle.
Meanwhile, the I-T department has attached nearly 458 benami properties in Rajasthan with the total value of around Rs 1,400 crore.
