A video of a senior advocate went viral on social media like wildfire in which he can be seen smoking during the virtual hearing of the Rajasthan High Court.
The video was captured during the virtual hearing of the Rajasthan High Court. According to multiple media reports, the incident reportedly took place on Thursday after the Rajasthan High Court resumed its hearing on the plea challenging the merger of six BSP MLAs with the Congress.
In the viral video, which is doing the rounds on social media, the senior advocate Rajeev Dhavan can be seen holding a set of papers in front of his face in a bid to smoke a hookah. However, the paper couldn’t hide the rings of smoke.
In the video, senior advocate and Congress leader Kapil Sibal is seen arguing while Dhavan puffs on his hookah, filling the screen with smoke. It is yet to be ascertained whether any action has been taken by the Rajasthan High Court in this matter.
No joke, here’s the video of the same:
Soon, the advocate got harshly trolled over it by the Internet. “Is this a High Court?”, a user commented. Due to coronavirus pandemic, the courts are hearing arguments of cases online. The SC observed that the minimum court etiquette should be followed during the hearings.
The decision was taken after a lawyer appeared in a virtual hearing in the Supreme Court while lying on bed and wearing a T-shirt in June. The Supreme Court noticed that lawyer and then decided that virtual hearing should be presentable and also avoid showing images that are not appropriate.
Supreme Court had released an order on June 15, “This court is of the view that when counsel appears in court video hearings, they should be presentable and avoid showing images, which are not appropriate and can only be tolerable in the privacy of their homes.”
