Doctors are working beyond the bounds of possibility at hospitals in a bid to provide the best treatment for coronavirus positive patients. In shocking news, a 30-year-old doctor at Aligarh’s Deen Dayal hospital was arrested by the police on Wednesday on charges of molesting and attempting to rape a 25-year-old woman, who was recovering from illness in the isolation ward after being tested positive for coronavirus epidemic.
As per the reports, government doctor Tufail Ahmad, 30, was booked and later arrested from a hotel where he quarantined himself after finishing off his duty in the isolation ward.
The victim added in her complaint that Tufail Ahmad had visited the women’s ward on Tuesday night and had allegedly touched the private parts of the patient on the false excuse of examining her.
On Wednesday morning, the doctor once again came to visit her and did the same act. The case was filed against the doctor on the basis of a complaint given by the girl.
The girl works in a private company in the national capital and had come to her home in Aligarh where she slowly developed symptoms of Covid-19. She was then admitted at the hospital on Monday with coronavirussymptoms and the test report had confirmed the positive status a day later.
After examining the CCTV footage, police added that the doctor went to the isolation ward without wearing PPE kit and gloves. Meanwhile,circle officer of the Civil Lines police station, Anil Samaniya, added that the doctor has been booked under section 376 (2) d (takes advantage of his official position and commits rape on a woman in his custody) of IPC at the Quawarsi police station.
Additional City Magistrate, Ranjeet Singh confirmed that a report has been sought from the Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS) of the hospital which will be submitted to the state government for further action.
