Vikas Dubey, the main accused in the killing of eight policemen in Kanpur, has been gunned down in an encounter. The notorious gangster was caught in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain after a week-long chase. The encounter took place after the gangster tried to flee while the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) was taking him by road from Ujjain to Kanpur.
His last rites were performed at Bhairo Ghat in Kanpur. Vikas Dubey’s wife Richa attended his funeral. Richa said that her husband had been “wrong” and deserved “this fate”. But then Richa Dube also lashed out at mediapersons, holding them responsible for the death of her husband.
Vikas Dubey is survived by his parents, wife, and two sons. Vikas’s father Ram Kumar Dubey too had distanced himself from the gangster and justified police action. “It is for good if he is dead. If police encourage criminals like him, then how will the administration run?” he said.
On being asked whether he will attend the cremation of his deceased son, Ram Kumar Dubey replied, “I will not go to his funeral.”
Vikas Dubey’s mother Sarla Devi Dubey stated that she had no connection with him and there was no talk of development for several months. Sarla Devi has been living with her younger son Prakash and his wife.
Richa has accused Vikas of beating his mother. Vikash used to punish his mother and one day he beat his mother so hard that she urinated, she said. He would attack his mother whenever she would advise him to change his habits.
Earlier, in a heart-wrenching incident, eight police personnel were shot dead on Friday by a gang led by Vikas Dubey. In what could be termed as a shocking crime in Kanpur, police officials were attacked by miscreants, allegedly because they attempted to arrest the infamous historysheeter Vikas Dubey.
The Kanpur Police team went to Dubey’s Bikru village to arrest him where the deadly incident occurred. It is being told that Vikas Dubey had got the information of the raid hours before the police arrived.
A gunfight broke out between the police personnel and the hiding perpetrators and police also fired in retaliation but the criminals had an advantage of being located on rooftops. In the deadly incident, 8 police personnel lost their lives. The attackers fled after the occurrence happened at night in Bikaru village. Police forces immediately launched the search operation to nab all accused.
