In yet another heart-wrenching incident, a woman PCS officer has committed suicide on July 6 in Uttar Pradesh. The 27-year-old woman officer has been identified as Mani Manjari Rai, posted in Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh.
The country is already going through the shock-wave after the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, a 16-year-old TikTok girl and Crime Patrol actress Preksha Mehta. The death of a PCS officer has now left everyone in shock. The officer has also reportedly left a suicide note.
The incident came to fore when the neighbours came to know about the tragic incident on Tuesday morning and informed the police. ADG Varanasi zone Brij Bhushan said, “She has left a suicide note in which wrote two-three lines. In it she had alleged that she had been falsely implicated with political motivation.”
The woman officer, who made her family proud, could have done more for the well being of the society but took the decision of ending her life by hanging from the ceiling at her residence. She was posted as Executive Officer at Maniyar Nagar Panchayat.
Police recovered the suicide note which reads, “I escaped Delhi and Mumbai to come to Ballia. But I was cheated into doing wrong things. I was cheated big time. She also apologised to her brother and family for taking the extreme step.”
According to the police, the officer’s suicide note suggests her death by suicide was because she was going through a mental bouts of depression. Jai Thakur Rai, father of the officer has alleged foul play in the death of her daughter.
Mr Roy has alleged that it was not a suicide but murder and the matter was covered up as a suicide. He said that he does not think she committed suicide. He further demanded police investigation into the matter. “The act (murder) was committed over fake payment and other wrongdoings,” claimed Rai.
Manjari Rai was posted in Ballia. She was residing in Awas-Vikas colony at the district headquarters and used to go to Maniyar office from there.
On Monday, the officer was alone at home when she was found hanging. Police have sent the body for postmortem and said a probe is underway.
