After the violent clash between India and China in eastern Ladakh’s Galwan Valley, tension has risen between India and China over the Line of Actual Control (LAC). At least 20 Indian soldiers, including a colonel, were martyred in the “violent face-off” with Chinese troops. Following the violent clash, two powerful countries in Asia are engaged in increasing the deployment of troops along the LAC border.
In a big revelation, sources claimed that Indian soldiers fought for the nation with grit and determination and killed at least 45-50 Chinese troops in the Galwan valley. It further claimed that the Indian jawans from a Punjab Regiment had captured a Chinese colonel during the clash, who was later released by the Indian forces. Notably, this is the first deadly confrontation between the two Asian giants since 1975.
However, China has not disclosed its casualties. China has reportedly suffered a huge loss during the violent clash in eastern Ladakh’s Galwan Valley. Hu Xijin, editor-in-chief of Global Times, confirmed casualties from the Chinese side. “Based on what I know, Chinese side also suffered casualties in the Galwan Valley physical clash.”
The fight lasted over three hours till late in the night in which 43 Chinese troops were reportedly either dead or injured seriously. Indian jawans from the Sikh regiment fought against Chinese troops. Eventually, the Sikh troops uprooted their tents and removed the Chinese post from there.
Australia, on the other hand, has come out in India’s support. Australia has said that it has noted India’s efforts to de-escalate the situation with China via talks. Australian High Commissioner to India Barry O’Farrell also paid tribute to the 20 Indian soldiers who attained martyrdom in a face-off with China.
On 4 June, India and Australia signed two bilateral military agreements to get access to each other’s military bases. The deals were made with a view to countering China.
Prime Minister Modi has also given a free hand to the Indian Army in the Ladakh region to safeguard the sovereignty and integrity of Indian borders.
The valour of Indian soldiers will be eternally etched in the memory of the nation. Brave soldiers will be remembered for their bravery by generations.
