After China deployed around 5,000 troops in the Galwan area of eastern Ladakh to stop infrastructure-development activities, citizens are now calling for a boycott of Chinese products across the nation.

The Indian government has left everyone shocked after it created a Tiktok account under the username @mygovindia. Tiktok is owned by a Chinese company known as ‘ByteDance’ and is a popular short-video platform. TikTok has been an addictive app of late across the world. It has been learnt that out of half a billion users, more than 200 million users are known to be Indian and the majority of them are all kids and teenagers.
In view of the popularity of TikTok, the government has created an official account in order to reach out to the maximum audience and spread awareness regarding coronavirus. The official profile statement reads, “Citizen engagement platform of Government of India.”
The account of MyGov on TikTok has got around 1 million followers within a short time. So far, the videos uploaded on the account are mostly about yoga, coronavirus awareness, and achievements of the government. The account has garnered 6.5 million likes by far and it does not follow any other account.
This news came as a surprise to many Indians amid the Youtube vs Tiktok faceoff, the demand to boycott Chinese goods, and ‘Vocal for local’ demand.
The call to boycott Chinese goods is gaining steam across India after PM Modi urged countrymen to promote swadeshi products and motivate others too in buying local products. Many people have started boycotting Chinese goods after getting motivated by the “Make in India” campaign.
