When some people do not realize the seriousness of a critical situation, everyone around them suffers. A shocking incident happened in Bihar recently. Even in lock down, a dance show was allegedly organised in Bihar and a group of dancers were called to perform at a quarantine center in Karrakh village of Bihar’s Samastipur district.
In the past few months since lockdown has been implemented all over India, several cases of negligence of social distancing by people from many states came to notice. But this incident from Bihar has left everyone in shock wondering how careless people can be!
The corona virus pandemic has seen many areas of the country undergo lockdown to contain its spread, and while many are fortunate to be able to stay at their own residences, some are not.
But such incidents amid lockdown raise questions on the operational activities of quarantine centres especially in Bihar.
Authorities at a quarantine centre have come under fire after it was found that they had invited a troupe of female dancers to entertain those in quarantine. The local administration has assured that it will take appropriate action against defaulters, taking cognisance of the matter in hands.
Those in quarantine were migrants who had returned from other states and were housed at a village school called Utkramit Madhya Vidyalaya.
TV’s are installed at the quarantine center and administration doesn’t permit for any other entertainment from outside”, said the Additional District Collector. The video of the dancers performing in the school, which is made up into a quarantine center, has gone viral on the internet.
After the emergence of the video, there was hue and cry which led to the Additional District Collector issuing a statement against it and an order to investigate the matter. This bizarre incident has surfaced when the country is still fighting the Covid-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, Bihar reported 129 new corona cases, taking the total number of COVID-19 patients in the state to 1,391. In Bihar, the number of corona virus cases has risen as several migrant labourers who returned to the state due to lack of employment in other places, have been tested positive.
According to data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, among the total people infected as on date, 494 have recovered and 9 have succumbed to the virus.
A dance performance in a quarantine centre points to a shocking level of negligence and ignorance towards the seriousness of the lockdown measures that have been put in place to contain the spread of Covid-19.
The authorities must strictly take appropriate actions and ensure that such an incident does not happen again.
