After seeing the popularity of epic shows like Ramayana and Mahabharata among people in the country, Star Plus has decided to re-telecast Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan to grab audience attention and it will be another chance for the people who missed it on DD National.
BR Chopra’s Mahabharat will air on Colors. Both the epic shows were re-telecast on Doordarshan recently to entertain people during the nationwide lockdown, imposed to prevent spread of the COVID-19 outbreak.
Two great epics of Hindu civilization Ramayan and Mahabharat have always been a source of inspiration and knowledge for many people. Doordarshan (DD) brought both the shows after over three decades on the demand of people amid shutdown. Ramayan was created, written, and directed by Ramanand Sagar.
Ramayan will be broadcast on Star Plus from May 4 at 9.30 pm, while BR Chopra’s Mahabharat has occupied the 7-9 pm slot on Colors. It will be broadcast from Monday to Friday, starting from May 4.
As soon as Ramayan came back on DD National (Doordarshan), the channel grabbed the top position in TRP ratings. Doordarshan has become the most-watched channel across the country amid the coronavirus lockdown.
Ramayan is a TV serial that was aired on Doordarshan back in 1987. It was aired for almost 1.5 years and then came to an end. This show is based on the life of Lord Rama. The story revolves around Lord Rama and showcases his entire life.
DD National (Doordarshan) gained instant popularity across the country after it launched two epic shows Ramayana and Mahabharat. Ramayan became the most-watched Hindi serial because people are staying indoors amid the shutdown. In the first week of its re-telecast, Ramayan had garnered the highest ever TRP ratings, breaking records of other serials.
Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan on Doordarshan became the most searched keyword on Google in India after the serial was aired on Doordarshan. People were searching on Google to find out what time the series would begin and they were also trying to find an online link to watch the show.
Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan used to be telecast on every Sunday morning for a year between 1987 and 1988, the streets would appear empty as people remained glued to their television sets for an hour. Today, the series is being broadcast under very different circumstances. Doordarshan also became the most-watched channel worldwide with 77 million viewers.
