A pregnant woman residing in Bengaluru had walked for 7 kilometres in search of a hospital and eventually delivered a baby at a dental clinic.
As per the Times of India report, after a painful walk looking for a hospital, with her husband, the 20-year-old woman finally ended up giving birth in the hallway of a dental clinic.
A New Indian Express report mentioned that the woman developed labour pains on the 14th of April. She started walking in search of a clinic and the couple spotted a person opening the shutters of Krupa Dental Clinic at Doddabammasandra in Bengaluru.
Soon after they stepped into the clinic, the woman went into labour ward and was helped by the assistant. After delivery, the assistant learnt that Dr Ramya who runs the dental clinic.
Since she was literally exhausted after walking for hours on foot, she finally delivered a premature baby within 5-10 minutes of reaching my clinic,” Dr Ramya told TOI.
After delivering the baby, the mother lost consciousness for a certain period of time. The woman’s husband had thought that the child passed away and wrapped it in a paper for around 20 minutes.
“As I’m not a gynaecologist, I was unsure of what was to be done. I called my husband, who is a general physician, and he came immediately,” added Dr Ramya told the New Indian Express.
The two doctors observed that the baby was still alive and start the treatment and were finally able to recover the health of the baby and the mother, after which, they were shifted to the KC General Hospital in Malleswaram.
