Ever since PM Narendra Modi took charge at the head of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2014, Mr. Modi has been trying to change the atmosphere around India.
In a sensational development, the Central government has sanctioned nine medical colleges in Jammu and Kashmir. In addition to that, two AIIMS have also been sanctioned for Jammu and Kashmir.
Union Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Jitendra Singh performed “bhoomi poojan” ceremony of AIIMS building here. While speaking to the media, Singh said that Jammu and Kashmir has been allocated two AIIMS – one in Jammu and the other one in Kashmir.
The proposal was approved by the Union government for building an AIIMS in Jammu at Vijaypur, District Samba under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) in January 2019. The project will require an investment of around Rs 1661 crores. It is expected to be completed in 30 months by August 2022.
It will give Kashmiri people an immense pleasure when there will be AIIMS. They will no longer need to go outside for higher study. Singh said that the way the government is working beyond vote bank politics has greatly benefited the people. The foundation stone of AIIMS, Jammu was laid by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on February 3 last year.
It shall also have a medical college and a nursing college and will be a green building incorporating the state of the art equipment and technology. Ever since the article 370 was abrogated from Jammu & Kashmir on 5 August, security forces have maintained the law and order in the area. The central government has an eye on the development of Jammu and Kashmir. The Union government is trying all possible ways to ensure that all basic amenities should be available for people in the state.
