Vivekananda Anil Yoge of Maharashtra Security Force who helped actor Shabana Azmi when she met with a road accident on Mumbai-Pune Expressway has been conferred with a bravery award by Life Saving Foundation. It should be noted that Joint Commissioner of Police Ravindra Shisve handed the award to the soldier.
On January 18, Azmi was badly injured in an accident near Khalapur toll plaza on the expressway.
“The Maharashtra security force has 117 jawans posted on the expressway in three shifts to deal with emergency situations. Retired Inspector Chandrakant Jagalpure is leading the team. The foundation felicitated him as well for keeping the morale of his team high,” stated a press release issued by the Pune City Police.
Azmi picked up head injuries when her car met with an accident. Her husband by the name of Javed Akhtar was also there in the vehicle but luckily escaped unhurt.
The 69-year-old veteran actor and her driver Kamlesh Kamath were immediately taken to the MGM hospital in Navi Mumbai and then later shifted to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in suburban Andheri on the same day itself.
Akhtar added that Azmi is likely to be shifted to a normal room on Thursday. He had also expressed gratitude to his wife’s well-wishers for praying for her good health.
“Our family would like to thank all the friends and well-wishers for their concern and messages for Shabana. This is to let everyone know that she is recovering well and most probably will be shifted to a normal room tomorrow,” the 75-year-old screenwriter added in a statement.
