In shocking news, prominent filmmaker Raj Kapoor’s daughter Ritu Nanda passed away early Tuesday morning in New Delhi. Ritu, who was married to industrialist Rajan Nanda, was the mother-in-law of Shweta Bachchan. According to reports, she was diagnosed with cancer.
Amitabh Bachchan took to his blog and confirmed the demise of Ritu Nanda saying that Ritu Nanda passed away at 1:15 am.
Big B wrote, “My samdhan, Ritu Nanda, Shweta’s Mother in Law passed away suddenly at 1.15 Am .. cannot communicate .. travelling (sic).”
71-year-old Ritu Nanda was suffering from cancer. Many Bollywood celebs including Amitabh Bachchan, Karan Johar, Kareena Kapoor, and Alia Bhatt were spotted at her home who arrived to pay last respects to Ritu Nanda before her funeral. Big B with son Abhishek Bachchan reached her home to share condolences with the bereaved family.
Ritu’s sister-in-law Neetu Kapoor also took to Instagram and shared the news. Neetu shared a picture with her and captioned the post as, “My dearest may your soul Rest In Peace.”
Riddhima Kapoor Sahani (Neetu’s daughter) also remembered her “bua” on social media.
“To the kindest most gentle person Ive ever met – They don’t make them like you anymore – RIP bua #missyoualways (sic),” Riddhima wrote in her caption.
Rishi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor and Rajiv Kapoor are Ritu Nanda’s brothers. Her last rites will be performed at 1.30 pm at Lodhi Road cremation ground in Delhi. May her soul rest in peace!
