Just after 16 days of his marriage, Indian Jawan dies in a terror attack in Kupwara, J&K

An Indian Army soldier from Bharatpur, Rajasthan was martyred while he was on duty at the Line of Control. Army Jawan was killed in a terrorist attack in Kashmir. The soldier has been identified as Saurabh Katara, a resident of Barauli Brahmin village of Bharatpur in Rajasthan. Saurabh is survived by his parents and wife. Jawan’s father had also served in the army. 

Saurabh lost his life in a blast during patrolling in Kupwara district, Jammu & Kashmir. The blast took place at 3 am. Army Jawan got married on December 8, 2019, and had returned to duty on December 16. The funeral of Saurabh was conducted in his village Barauli, Rajasthan. 

Saurabh was patrolling in Kupwara district, J&K when the fatal explosion happened. There were other jawans with him as well, who received injuries and were hospitalized. Jawan’s body was brought from Kashmir and the mortal remains were brought to his village. The entire village was mourning the death of the army jawan and a massive crowd came to his funeral.

Cross-border infiltration along the Line of Control has increased by almost 50% since the Article 370 was abrogated on 5 August and Kashmir was put under lockdown, Union minister of state for home affairs, G. Kishan Reddy, told Parliament.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot expressed condolences to his family members. CM Gehlot tweeted, “Salute the martyrdom of our brave soldier Saurabh Katara, who made the supreme sacrifice…We all stand with his family members in this most difficult time…May God give them strength.”
