29-year-old Nimisha (Fathima), her husband Bexin and their child earlier left the country to join ISIS have been confirmed by Nimisha’s mother Bindu Sampath. They were identified from the photographs provided by the NIA officials as part of the verification.
Bindu Sampath, mother of Nimisha said that the NIA officials shared photographs of the group which had surrendered. “Among them, I identified my daughter Nimisha (Fathima), her husband Bexin and their kid. I’ve also shared the photo with Bexin’s mother who had also confirmed their identity,” said Bindu Sampath. She added that they have not received any official communication from the Centre.
Hailing from Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram, Nimisha was a Dental student. A Christian youth named Bexin trapped her in his love and married her. Later they both converted to Islam in the name of love jihad and she changed her name to Fathima. In 2016, they both left for Syria to join the Islamic State (IS). Nimisha was pregnant when she left India. Nimisha lied to her mother said that she was going to Sri Lanka for religious studies but she went to Syria along with her husband to be a part of ISIS. They both did not spill the beans to their families. Now, they have been exposed after they surrendered in Afghanistan.
Since 2016, many terrorists from Kerala have moved to Afghanistan to join hands with the terror outfit. Some had even converted to Islam. Many of them had also taken their families along with them. Recently, 10 women and children surrendered to Afghanistan, they are believed to be the family members of ISIS terrorists from India who traveled to Afghanistan.
