With incredible experience in serving for Pakistan army, Lieutenant General Sahir Shamshad Mirza has added one more dimension to his kitty. Having accomplished several milestones in his glorious career, he is looking forward to a new challenge.
Lieutenant General Sahir Shamshad Mirza is all set to start new innings as he has been appointed as Pakistan’s army’s next Chief of General Staff (CGS).
It should be noted that the post of CGS is regarded as the most influential one within the Pakistan army after that of the Pakistan army chief.
The CGS is allocated operational and intelligence matters at the General Headquarters with the directorates of Military Operations and Military Intelligence falling under his range of experience.
General Shahid Baig Mirza is from Infantry’s Sindh Regiment and was posted as adjutant general (AG) before his recruitment as CGS. His previous appointments included vice chief of general staff (A), director-general of Military Operations and general officer commanding (GOC) Dera Ismail Khan.
At the Adjutant General office, Gen Mirza will be taken over by Lt General Muhammad Amir who was elevated as a lieutenant general in September and awaiting posting. His previous posting was GOC 10 Division, Lahore and is from Artillery.
