Yes, you read it right! Hailing from Arunachal Pradesh, the youngster has set a staggering national record by lifting 215 kg in the 55kg bodyweight category during the 15th Youth National Weightlifting Championships in Bihar on Wednesday.
The bright talent from the state lifted 93 kg in snatch and 122 (clean and jerk) for a cumulative total of 215 kg to win the gold.
Another promising weightlifter from the state- Shankar Lapung also took part in the same bodyweight category and has settled for the bronze medal.
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu took to his official Twitter handle to congratulate Golom Tinku for bringing accolades to the state.
“You made our country and state proud. 13-year-old Arunachali weightlifter Shri #GolomTinku has set a national record by lifting 215kg in 55kg category in the 15th Youth National #Weightlifting Championships being held in Bihar. Congratulations!,” Pema Khandu tweeted.
