Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district is a nightmare for citizens and also the worst-hit Naxal regions in the country. Naxalites are known for blowing up whatever they see. They target from roads to bridges and sometimes even schools.
Despite all such difficulties and challenges faced by people in that district, Namrata Jain touched the pinnacle of success. Let’s congratulate Namrata on her success.
The 25-year-old Namrata secured 12th rank in the civil services exam, the result of which was declared by the Union Public Services Commission (UPSC). According to news agency Namrata hails from Geedam town in Dantewada was ranked 99 in the 2016 civil services exam.
She got Indian Police Service (IPS) and is currently undergoing training at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy, Hyderabad.
“I always wanted to be a collector. When I was in Class 8, a woman officer had come to my school. Later I was told she was the collector. I was quite impressed by her. At that time, I had decided to become a collector,” Jain was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
“The place I come from is badly affected by Naxalism. People there lack basic facility like education. I want to serve the people of my state,” added Jain.
She also added that bringing development to Dantewada could be the best possible way to check Naxalism there.
Her father is local businessman and her mother is a housewife, while her brother aims to become a chartered accountant.
Based on the result of the Civil Services examination, a total of 759 candidates were recommended for several government services.
The civil services examination is scheduled annually by the UPSC in three different stages namely preliminary, main and interview in order to select officers for Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service among others.
