US President Donald Trump’s presence at the “Howdy, Modi!” event on Sunday turned out to be a “turning point” in the India-US ties, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted the US President today morning, just hours after the two world leaders shared the stage at a mega event in Houston.
Thanking the US President, PM Modi added that Trump has been a loyal friend of India and the Indian community.
“The event was lively, showcasing the special features of Indian culture and accomplishments of the Indian diaspora,” PM Modi tweeted, sharing pics from the grand event. “Moments from Houston that will always remain a part of my memory,” he wrote.
PM Modi and Donald Trump addressed a huge crowd of over 50,000 Indian Americans on Sunday where the two great leaders covered a wide range of issues including terrorism and India-US ties.
In his recent speech, Trump added that India has never had a better friend in the White House than him and acknowledged the contribution of the Indian-American community in enhancing ties between the two nations.
“The USA loves India!” Trump added in a tweet after the event. He had stated= “incredible”, the electric atmosphere at the NRG arena in Houston. Previously in his speech, he had described PM Modi as America’s “greatest” and “most loyal friend”, and said the Narendra Modi was doing a remarkable job for India.
The event was conducted by the Indian-American community to honour Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is visiting the US for a week.
President Trump had also received a massive standing ovation when PM Modi asked the audience to commend his “resolve” in combating terrorism.
After his successful Houston visit, PM Modi jetted off to New York on the second leg of his US visit that will see him address the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and the session on ‘climate change’.
PM Modi and Donald Trump will also organise a bilateral meeting on Tuesday, where the ongoing India-US trade standoff is expected to come up.
