It is raining medals for India in Asia Cup 2019, let’s praise our athletes

India scripted history once again as its athletes won three medals on the final day of the Track Asia Cup cycling competition and went on to become the overall champion.

India finished first in the competition with 10 gold, eight silver and seven bronze medals at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Sports Complex. The host team won 2 gold and one silver medal on the final day of the event.

Uzbekistan finished second on the list with 4 gold and 3 silver medals, while Malaysia came third with 4 gold and 1 silver medal. Ronaldo had once again hit the headlines with a gold medal in the junior men’s Karin event.

Interestingly, this is Ronaldo’s fourth gold in the competition. Ronaldo, who was a member of the Junior World Champion team had previously won gold medals in the sprint, 1 km time trial and team sprint junior events.

In the Karin event, Ronaldo got the better of Kazakhstan’s Arlanbeck and Alexandra Safarov, who won silver and bronze medal respectively.

After winning the fourth gold medal for India, Ronaldo added that this is the best performance of his career as he believes that he is getting better after each event.

“This is the best performance of my career and my time in each event has improved, it is the most important.” World number one Esso Elben also won a gold medal in the men’s elite Kieren event and scored significant points to qualify for the 2020 Olympics.

As far as the women’s elite Kieren event is concerned, Deborah Harold and Mayuri Lute were let down and the duo failed to make it to the top six. Fateha of Malaysia came on top as she won the gold of this event. Onkar Singh who is the President of the Indian Cycling Federation felicitated the players for their performance.
