In what could be termed as one of the biggest drawbacks of the Lok Sabha 2019 polls, Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi lost the valuable Amethi seat to BJP candidate Smriti Irani. Rahul Gandhi’s defeat is not just bad news to him but also to Punjab Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu.
In the wake of RaGa’s defeat, the noise just grew on Twitter for the resignation of Punjab Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu.
For the unversed, in April, Sidhu announced he would dare to quit politics in case Rahul Gandhi lost elections from Amethi.
“Navjot Sidhu come to laughter show again, that’s your real place,” said one Twitter user.
“I know he is man of his words…now leave,” said another.
Sidhu who is known for his controversial statements, has also been criticised by Punjab CM Amarinder Singh for sabotaging the Congress prospects with his infamous comments against him including the party leadership in the state.
“@sherryontopp stand true to your word…” said one user.
“Politics will now be that much less entertaining as @sherryontopp prepares to keep his vow of quitting politics were @RahulGandhi to lose #Amethi. I am afraid he may already have tendered his resignation as Minister to @capt_amarinder,” tweeted another user.
