In what could be termed as a shocking crime in the national capital, a serving police inspector was murdered in Delhi’s Vivek Vihar area, allegedly because he questioned illegal liquor sale.
The incident took place on Sunday night when Delhi Police Sub Inspector Rajkumar, resident of Kasturba Nagar went on to confront a gang who were engaged in a quarrel with cops posted at a police picket to inspect illegal liquor sale in the area.
Rajkumar reportedly took out his mobile and started recording the entire incident as evidence.
Meanwhile, one of the bootleggers had spotted the inspector Rajkumar and then started hurling abuses at him from the word go. When the inspector had warned him, the man started beating him and when things started to get from bad to worse, bootlegger stabbed Rajkumar in the process.
The inspector who got back to his home in the neighbourhood after being stabbed immediately reached the nearby hospital on his scooter accompanied by his daughter.
Unfortunately, on the way, he fainted, but his daughter managed to take him to the hospital from where he was referred to the Max Hospital, Patparganj where the inspector was ‘declared brought dead’.
According to the family’s complaint, police arrested Vijay alias Bhuri who is a history-sheeter carrying several criminal cases against him.
The family alleged that Vijay and his close associates who had been selling liquor illegally in the area for a long time had threatened Rajkumar earlier too.
