In what will be one of the biggest “Make in India” success for PM Narendra Modi-led government, one of the world’s biggest car manufacturers confirmed that they will enter India in 2019. Elon Musk has big plans to bring Tesla Motors in India in 2019, or in 2020, Tesla CEO and founder of Tesla Motors confirmed the news.
He earlier said that the EV company is preparing a route map to start partial operations in 2019 and then full operations by 2020. Elon Musk confirmed the all-electric car manufacturer’s India entry on Twitter, responding to a Twitter user’s query on Tesla’s operation in India.
Elon Musk said: “Would love to be there this year. If not, definitely next!”
Well, this is not the first time Musk confirmed his plans to enter India by 2019. Musk previously said: “Hopefully, partial presence in India, Africa & South America end of next year, with broader expansion in 2020”, replying to a Twitter user’s query.

He first hinted India entry saying – “Would love to be in India. Some challenging government regulations, unfortunately” and also added: “Deepak Ahuja, our CFO, is from India. Tesla will be there as soon as he believes we should.”
If Tesla comes to India, then Model 3 would be their first choice product as it is the most affordable Tesla car. The Space X CEO also impressed Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the overall technology of Tesla Motors. PM Modi was given a candid presentation by Musk regarding the revolutionary technologies in the works and how Tesla cars decide to change the face of the automobile industry.
Interestingly, all-electric Tesla Model X SUV was witnessed on the roads of Mumbai last year.
Moreover, Elon Musk might be coming to India in 2019 as he mentioned while responding to a tweet asking him about when he is planning to visit India.
