Shameful: Pak Journalist compares Buddhist leader Dalai Lama with terrorist Masood Azhar

A Pakistani Journalist by the name of Hamid Mir has come under fire after drawing parallels between Tibetan leader, The Dalai Lama and Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar. His tweet didn’t go down too well with people as the majority of the users bashed him to the core.

Citing China blocking UN’s bid to designate ‘Masood Azhar’ as a ‘global terrorist’, the journalist retweeted a 10-year-old news article and wrote “It’s very easy to understand why China blocked resolution against Masood Azhar in UNSC? India sheltering an enemy of China since decades and his name is Dalai Lama.”

After his tweet, the journalist received a lot of flak for his remarks:

Post the 1959 Tibetan revolution against the Chinese rule, the Dalai Lama escaped his country and took shelter India and has lived here ever since. He is a Buddhist spiritual leader and is widely respected by people from across the world. Dalai Lama has been honoured with the Nobel Prize in 1989.

After when China, blocked UN’s bid, India said, “We are disappointed by this outcome. This has prevented action by the international community to designate the leader of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), a prescribed and active terrorist organization which has claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir on 14 February 2019,” the External Affairs Ministry said.

World leaders are gathering together again to support India at a time when ‘China betrayed the international community by blocking the bid to designate Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) chief Masood Azhar’ as a “global terrorist” for the fourth time.

Annoyed by China’s move, UNSC members today threatened that they “may be forced to pursue other actions” if China still continues to support Pakistan in case of terror.

“If China continues to block this designation, responsible member-states may be forced to pursue other actions at the Security Council. It shouldn’t have to come to that,” a Security Council diplomat was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
