In the early hours of Tuesday, a man from Pune broke into National Institute of Construction Management and Research (NICMAR) women’s hostel. He held a pistol to the guard’s head and barged into the private institute.
Talking to TOI, the guard said he was totally shocked as the bullet got stuck in the barrel. The man by the name of Suraj Mahendrakumar Soni went further and fired gunshots near a 5th floor of the room only to threaten a woman for not attending his calls and turning him down.
As per the reports, Soni jumped from the fifth floor of the NICMAR hostel and unfortunately fractured his hip bone and lower limbs.
It has been said that the 23-year-old Soni is an unemployed engineering graduate. He frightened the guard who he tried to kill to stay at the lift door. It was when the guard with a presence of mind raised an alarm and alerted other security personnel in the vicinity.
Senior inspector Dayanand Dhome said adding that Soni was admitted to the Sassoon Hospital and was taking treatment for his injuries. Moreover, he said that a pistol had been detained from Soni along with three live cartridges.
