The constant scuffle between the Centre and Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government with respect to CBI raid at police commissioner Rajeev Kumar has turned into a complete political crisis. While Kolkata CM declared a full-fledged war against the Modi-led government, the Centre commanded the deployment of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) units at CBI regional office at CGO Complex in Kolkata according to verified media outlets.
The decision comes in the wake of detainment of five CBI officials by the Kolkata Police and were allegedly pushed by the cops. Interim CBI chief M Nageshwar Rao had a word with Pankaj Srivastava, Joint Director Kolkata and as per the reports further CBI teams will be sent to Kolkata.
Speaking to Times Now, Srivastava said that his house has been fully surrounded by the cops and added that he might be arrested. On reacting to Banerjee’s recent claim of not carrying any warrant before performing the raid, he said while getting the warrant there is a high chance that the information will be spread so the officers did not carry it. The Joint Director also went on to claim that the team was busy working on the orders from the honourable Supreme Court.
Talking to ANI, Praveen Tripathi, Joint Commissioner Crime, Kolkata Police said an active team of CBI officers came without any documents and told they were on a ‘secret mission’ and when questioned what the operation was all about, they did not give a proper response.
