Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, on Tuesday, expressed her sorrow over the demise of India’s former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Vajpayee drew his last breath at 5:05 pm on Thursday, August 16, at the AIIMS, Delhi. In a conversation with Republic TV on Thursday, August 17, Lata Mangeshkar said that the sad feeling of losing former PM Vajpayee felt like losing her father Deenanath Mangeshkar.
Tagged as the ‘Queen of Melody’, she went on to share memorable experiences of meeting Vajpayee. Lata Mangeshkar said adding that Vajpayee was a gentle human being, a good politician, and an even better human being. She also said that Vajpayee would treat everyone with equal respect and would try to be helpful for those who are facing tough times.

Remembering the 10th Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Mangeshkar mentioned the poem ‘Than Gayi Maut Se Than Gayi’ which was written by Vajpayee and was beautifully sung by her.
The Queen of Melody said that it was one of her favourite poems written by Vajpayee. As a tribute to the former late Prime Minister, Mangeshkar posted the poem which is followed as a song. She took to her official Twitter handle to post the song as a special tribute and to mark the birth anniversary of Vajpayee.
